Introduction

An introduction to the principal research strategies available to sociologists, including observations, surveys, experiments, archives, documents, and biographies. Class members will think about the underlying philosophy and logic of each method, as well as the quality of data gathered by that method. Students will design and carry out a research project using one or more of these data collection approaches.
